In support of the PTSF mission of optimal outcomes for every injured patient, oversees trauma research and data distribution including detailed data analysis in support of trauma registry, performance improvement, accreditation and other PTSF initiatives.  This position reports to the Director of Performance Improvement and can work remotely the majority of the time with periodic in-person meetings.

  • Oversees the data distribution process, including PTOS and Outcomes central site registry data. Serves as the PTSF main contact for all data requests.
  • Supports Trauma Performance Improvement initiatives through data queries, analysis and interpretation.
  • Analyzes trauma registry and Outcomes data for patterns and trends in trauma care delivery.
  • Develops, implements, updates, and enforces internal and external policies and procedures related to the data distribution process
  • Acts as a resource to PTSF and customers in relation to HIPAA, data security, and IRB requirements.
  • Performs data analysis including PTOS, Outcomes, and PA-TQIP Collaborative to support trauma registry, performance improvement, and other PTSF initiatives as requested.   
  • Supports PTSF staff and external customers with publication development and review.
  • Educates internal and external customers on data analysis and performance improvement best practices.
  • Supports development of software enhancements in collaboration with PTSF staff and vendors.
  • Acts as the liaison for the PTSF Research Committee.
  • Acts as the liaison to IT vendor to assure appropriate cyber security measures are instituted by all PTSF staff.
  • Coordinates Ohio Grant review process for the PTSF Research Committee.
  • Coordinates annual PTOS Research competition.
  • Participates in committee and workgroup meetings as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/requested.

Required Skills/Education

  • Master’s degree – Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Health Informatics, or another health-related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in using health data collection systems for the purpose of research and performance improvement.
  • Experience with data system maintenance to improve healthcare delivery and patient care
  • Experience with current methodologies for capturing and identifying metrics of key performance indicators
  • Experience with HIPAA requirements and the IRB approval process
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and enforce data use and data security policies and procedures
  • Experience working with Statistical Analytic Software (SQL, Minitab, Python)
  • Experience in project management, team building, and multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including expertise in giving formal presentations to varied audience types and sizes.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to promote and facilitate change management.
  • Places an emphasis on ethical values and integrity.
  • Membership and active involvement in professional healthcare organizations
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite—WORD, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work environment

  • Preferred
    • Experience with PTOS and PA Outcomes datasets
    • Clinician experience in a trauma center (i.e. physician, nurse, CRNP, PA)
    • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS
    • Knowledge of the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS)
