The Accreditation Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Accreditation and is responsible for managing the trauma center accreditation and Board deliberations process. Areas of focus include project management, communication, and education with achieving, and maintaining compliance with Standards of Accreditation. When not traveling for hospital visits and meetings, remote work from home is acceptable although the PTSF office located in Camp Hill PA can be utilized for work duties if preferred.


  • Manages aspects of the trauma center accreditation process including but not limited to scheduling, reviewing the electronic applications, and performing in-person hospital visits to conduct trauma site surveys (consultative and accreditation).
  • Collaborates with the PTSF Director of Accreditation to support the Board of Directors during the accreditation deliberation process.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Accreditation to prepare accreditation reports for trauma centers.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with site surveyors (in and out-of-state) and develops/maintains a tracking system for use by office staff.
  • Establishes relationships with hospital staff providing support to resolve identified issues.
  • Develops and revises accreditation resources
  • Monitors current national/state practices involving trauma center accreditation/designation and implements new strategies based on industry trends.
  • Manages post deliberation outcome events including but not limited to: Action Plans, Board Panels, Reconsiderations and Appeals.
  • Acts as the liaison or participates in PTSF committees as assigned, working with the committee chair to advance the goals of the committee.
  • Review and update current policies regarding the trauma center accreditation process and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Represent the Foundation with a focus on trauma systems, standards and accreditation at external organizations and events.
  • Collaborate with partnering organizations to further the strategic vision of PTSF; actively participate in state and national professional organizations as directed that support the work of the Foundation.
  • Works collaboratively with PTSF staff and external vendors.
  • Manages regularly scheduled program maintenance contacts with accredited trauma centers.
  • Manages Alternate Pathway tracking.
  • Manages Standards of Accreditation Variance tracking.
  • Supports organizations that further the mission and vision of PTSF.
  • Ensures that hospitals, staff, board members, PTSF staff and other relevant agencies are diplomatically informed, heard and responded to regarding PTSF related matters.
  • Works collaboratively with Foundation staff and external vendors to revise computer software used in the site survey process including the Electronic Application and site surveyor software.  Ensures trauma center staff are notified and trained appropriately in collaboration with fellow staff members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/requested.

 Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree.  
  • RN licensure.
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in a trauma center/system.
  • Proven skills in project management with the ability to work with staff and committees in developing and completing multiple simultaneous projects in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including the ability to give formal presentations to varying types and sizes of audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • A desire to be a high functioning team member which places an emphasis on ethical values and integrity.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite—SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Valid driver’s license.


Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree.
  • Knowledge of the Pennsylvania and/or ACS accreditation process.
  • Membership and active involvement in relevant professional organizations.
